Ella City Tour
Ella is only a small village located high in the mountains. Most visitors to Ella are sure to spend a couple of days there. The other nice thing about Ella is the climate. Horton Plains
Horton Plains national park is situated in the Nuwaraeliya district of the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is positioned in the central highlands, 1500m-2524m above sea level. Around 188 varieties of plant species have been identified at Horton plains, of which 63 are endemic to Sri Lanka. Though the lowland rain forests have much higher multifariousness of floral varieties, Horton plains is unique due to the scarcity of its ecosystem. The forest area of Horton plains has around 57 tree species belonging to 31 families. There are some 101 flowering plant species in these high altitudes, out of which 14 are endemic to Sri Lanka. Overall, there are about 188 plant species, fish species, 14 amphibian species, 64 bird species and 19 mammal species at Horton plains. This is a popular tourist destination, with 'World's End' as its key attraction. 'World's End' is a cliff with an 870m (2854 ft.) drop. You will also find the Baker's Falls, which is a waterfall formed by Belihul Oya (a tributary of the Walawe river). This waterfall was named after Sir Sauel Baker, a hunter and explorer who attempted to establish a European agriculture settlement in Nuwaraeliya.
