Bentota

Yala National Park

Yala national park was established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900 and upgraded as a National park in 1938. In addition to enter the park you must come to the gateway at Tissamaharama. Kataragama Vihara

Kataragama Vihara Complex includes veneration places of the god Kataragama, Vishnu and Saman, Bo tree and a Buddhist monastery. So that it has become a multi religious sacred city of Sri Lanka. The legend behind the Temple is very interesting. Therefore hundreds of Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Christians visit this place daily. Bunadala National Park
Tourists must visit the Bunadala national park in hambantota without denying. This scenic location is a reputed destination among Sri Lankan tourism sites. It expands approximately 6200 hectares. This widely beautiful park is in the south east of Sri Lanka. The park can be arrived about 250 km in distance from Colombo to the park through hambantota. The park was declared as the first 'Ramsar wetland' in Sri Lanka. Bundala is a haven of wildlife. It was denominated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1969 and upgraded as a national park in 1993 again. Hereupon it is called as the 4th biosphere reserve by UNESCO.

Kirinda
Kirinda is a small village basking in the southern province of Sri Lanka. It has become one of the most venerated places of Buddhism. Kumana National Park

Mulgirigala Rock
Since the focus towards Hambantota district has increased with the Sri Lankan tourism, Mulgirigala rock temple is visited by lots of tourists every day. The inscriptions at Mulgirigala rock temple proclaim that the temple was a monastery complex for about 2000 years ago. This high rising rock temple was a brain child of King Kavantissa. He donated an 18 feet Buddha statue to the temple. A panoramic view of the Coastal area can be seen from the top of the rock.

Sithulpawwa Rock Temple
Sithulpawwa rock temple monastery is an edifice dedicated for religious worships in the country of Sri Lanka. In order to reach the temple, you have to travel about 30 from Yala village. The name 'Siththul pawwa' was derived from 'Cittal Pawwa'. It meant 'The hill of the quiet mind'. The temple beholds a great possession since 2000 years ago.

Ussangoda
Ussangoda is a yet another place of Sri Lankan tourism comprised with valuable geographical features. Ussangama is located on the Colombo-Kataragama road near Ambalantota-Nonagama junction in Hambanthota district. It is under control by the department of archeology. Rumassala

Madol Duwa
Madol duwa is a yet another island whereas became very famous through the 'Madol Duwa' book. This novel was written by Martin Wickramasingha. Martin Wickramasingha is identified as a most renowned writer in late 20th century. The story is developed around Upali, Jinna, Ranadewa, Dangadasa and Siripala. Their struggle to success their lives in the deserted island named madol Duwa, is elaborated through the story. Even the story was made in to a film in 1976.
